Men’s Soccer at Tweed United

Our Senior Men’s Teams

Since the foundation of our club back in 2012, we’ve fielded competitive senior men’s football teams on the Gold Coast. We currently have a first and reserve team in the FQPL 3 South Coast competition, in addition to two teams in the Metro South Coast Division 3. The current 2024 season runs between March and September.

As a club we pride ourselves on having a development pathway from our junior teams into our senior squads. If you’re interested in joining our seniors teams, follow our Facebook page for the latest information. Pre-season training is open to all and typically starts in November/December at Arkinstall Park, followed by trials and squad assignment in the new year.

The First Team

Our top senior men’s team is an open age group with players competing against other Gold Coast teams as far away as Runaway Bay in the north to Kingscliff in the South. Historically our firsts have typically been competing for (and achieving) finals football, with our 2017 team taking out the league and grand final double. In 2023, needing a win against Coomera on the final day of the season to stay in the division, they took out the match 2-1 to leapfrog Murwillumbah and knock them out of the competition. They are currently coached by head coach Mark Johnston. Current competition fixtures, scores and ladder can be found on the Squadi app/website.

The Reserves

Traditionally our men’s reserves team has been an open age group, competing in Gold Coast competition alongside our firsts. However as of league restructuring in 2022, this is currently an age restricted team competing in the FQPL 3 South Coast U23s. Our reserves team trains alongside our first team twice a week and is usually the first port of call for players rising through the junior ranks to get their first taste of senior football.

As with our firsts, we’ve traditionally had a strong reserves team which is a testament to our strength in depth as one of the strongest clubs in the region. In 2023, our reserves finished the regular season in fifth spot, narrowly missing out on a finals spot to Robina by a single point. They are also coached by head coach Mark Johnston. Current competition fixtures, scores and ladder can be found on the Squadi app/website.

The Metros

In addition to our men’s first and reserves teams, we typically field three teams a year in the Metro South Coast Leagues. These are midweek competitions with league participants determined on location and relative competitiveness rather than a promotion and relegation system. This is an open age group often made up of club legends, youth prospects and those who prefer playing midweek.

In 2023, we had two teams competing in the South Coast Division 3 South with one team competing in division 2. One of our division 3 teams took out the minor premiership and premiership double in addition to the community team of the year award. Current competition fixtures, scores and ladder can be found on the Squadi app/website.
